Mitch and Heather's Volunteer Blog

We arrived at the orphanage just over two weeks ago. Andrea (a friend from back home) arrived one week before us to meet us here and volunteer at the orphanage as well. Kids were super excited to see us. Andrea had already taught them a few games that they were eager to play with us. The kids have been great so far, always smiling and excited. They spent a couple weeks practicing dances for a big Nepali festival. We spent two days driving around various homes in Kathmandu so the kids could dance for them. The practice paid off, they did extremely well, even danced at the Prime Minister’s house. Tej has been busy with work but is still showing us around many tourist attractions - he even booked a trip to Chitwan for us. A new boy arrived at the orphanage a few days ago bringing the total to 13. He’s 4 years old and was pretty shy at first but is now getting along great with the kids. The kids have laughed at Andrea and Mitch after watching their supper time chili eating competition. They don’t seem to think they’re as hot as we do. English is getting easier every day for the kids. Its amazing how much they know at such a young age. To any interested applicants out there - great experience.
